下午五點多 兩位學者匆匆問我: “哲學系 哲學院”那兒走…..

我一聽就知道這是大陸來的….

“……語文是多有意思的事啊！過去以為大陸經過文革、下放、大串連，許多北方人調到了南方
，南方人去了北疆，普通話應該早已取代方言。直到近幾年走過大江南北，才發現處處都是鄉音
無改鬢毛衰，每個地方的人在一起，仍然用他們的母語交談。          
最有意思的是，有一次上湖南衛視的「有話好說」節目，請到的話題人物來自河南，講的是帶
河南腔的「普通話」，居然現場幾百位湖南觀眾都聽不懂，而我卻聽得毫無困難。我漸漸發現，
陪我到四處旅行演講的北京朋友，聽不懂山東腔、聽不懂浙江話，聽不懂台灣國語，連隔個
太行山的山西話，都一知半解，但對於台灣去的我，這些都不成問題。          
於是發現，因為台灣有來自中國各地的人，每個台灣長大的孩子，都可能碰過「外省老師」用濃重
的鄉音教課，由「猜」到「懂」。每個人每一天在每個角落、每個公司、每個商店，都可能聽見
「南腔北調」，所以把聽力訓練得爐火純青，遠遠超過那些一輩子可能都走不出自己省分的大陸

The Languages of China


China's official language is standard Mandarin or putonghua [poo-tong-hwa] but,
according to a recent government survey, only 53% of the country's 1.3 billion
people can actually speak it. China has a large number of minority languages,
including Turkic and Mongolian languages. But while the Chinese constitution
recognizes this linguistic diversity, the government's promotion of standard mandar
in is taking its toll. Recently the operator of Shanghai's subway was criticized
for teaching staff how to communicate with passengers in languages other than
Mandarin. The local government said this could go against the country's national
language regulations. This has left some wondering whether the country's national
