惡食

粗劣的食物。韓非子˙說疑：不明臣之所言，雖節儉勤勞，布衣惡食，國猶自亡也。

Mokichi Saito (1882-1953), a prominent tanka poet, was an honest man. Once, when he was served a cooked carp at a dinner party, he took a good, long look at the plate of a guest next to him and asked to exchange it with his as the serving appeared bigger.

But once he had it in front of him, the fish looked smaller, so he had it changed back, according to "Bunjin Akujiki" (文人惡食 Bad eating habits of writers) by Kozaburo Arashiyama.
